Authorities reported that the wreck happened around 4 a.m. on September 16 at the intersection of Bell Road and Ned Shelton Road. Police said the crash involved two vehicles — a Nissan Rogue and a GMC Terrain — traveling in opposite directions at the time of the impact.
Investigators determined that 26-year-old Kyree Hollins was driving the Nissan Rogue southbound when, for reasons not yet confirmed, the vehicle crossed over the double yellow centerline. The Rogue then collided head-on with the GMC Terrain, which was traveling northbound through the intersection. The force of the impact left both vehicles with significant damage.
Emergency responders were called to the scene immediately after the crash. Despite their efforts, Hollins was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Officials said the driver of the GMC Terrain, whose identity was not disclosed, survived the collision and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
