Authorities in Temple have identified the man who died following a traffic crash that occurred Friday afternoon along North General Bruce Drive.

According to the Temple Police Department, officers were dispatched around 2:01 p.m. on March 13 to the 6300 block of North General Bruce Drive after receiving reports of a traffic collision. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and began assisting those involved in the crash.

Investigators say the collision occurred at the intersection of North General Bruce Drive and Hart Road. Preliminary findings from the police department indicate that one of the vehicles entered the intersection after failing to stop at a posted stop sign.

Authorities said the vehicle then collided with another vehicle traveling through the intersection. The force of the impact caused one of the vehicles to overturn, resulting in a rollover crash at the intersection.

Police later identified the driver of the first vehicle as 28-year-old Leyton Hernandez.

Emergency responders transported Hernandez to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash. Despite medical efforts, officials confirmed that he died after arriving at the hospital.

Another person involved in the crash was also transported to a medical facility. Authorities reported that the injuries sustained by that individual were not considered life-threatening.

Traffic crashes at intersections are among the most common types of roadway incidents, and investigators typically review multiple factors when examining how such collisions occur. In this case, authorities are continuing to gather information to better understand the sequence of events that led to the rollover crash.

Police say investigators will review evidence from the scene, including vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and any witness statements that may help clarify how the incident unfolded.

At this time, officials have not released additional details about the other driver involved in the crash or whether any further factors may have contributed to the collision.

The Temple Police Department confirmed that the case remains under active investigation. Authorities say additional information will be shared if it becomes available once investigators complete their review.
