Linda Bottomley Obituary, Death – A 75-year-old woman from Platteville has died following a weekend crash, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities were first alerted to the accident through an iPhone crash detection notification just before 8 p.m. on Saturday. The crash occurred near the intersection of Baker Ford Road and Whig Road in Platteville.
According to the sheriff’s report, the vehicle was traveling westbound when it unexpectedly crossed the center line of the road. It then veered off into a ditch, traveled across a creek, and eventually came to a stop. Investigators believe the crash may have been triggered by a medical emergency suffered by the driver.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the woman with upper body injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries. The Grant County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Linda Bottomley.
Officials also noted that Bottomley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The lack of seatbelt use may have contributed to the severity of her injuries.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that a medical event is suspected to have played a role in the crash, although they have not specified the exact nature of the incident. No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was hurt.
