The accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. on State Highway 29 near U.S. Highway 177, about 10 miles east of Wynnewood. A 2024 Nissan Altima carrying four teenagers collided with a 2021 Nissan Titan pickup truck. According to the OHP crash report, the Altima failed to yield at a stop sign and was hit by the oncoming Titan.

The devastating crash claimed the lives of 14-year-old Malakye Miles and 15-year-old Brook Lynn Faith Dooley at the scene on Friday. Both were passengers in the Altima. Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that a 17-year-old passenger from Wynnewood, who had been hospitalized in critical condition, also died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.

The 17-year-old driver of the Altima was also injured but was treated at a hospital and later released.

Lt. Mark Southall of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol expressed deep sorrow over the situation. “This is a heartbreaking situation,” he said. “At this point, two juveniles have lost their lives, really, to one or two bad decisions that, if done differently, this wouldn’t have happened.” His statement came before confirmation of the third death.

A local resident who lives near the crash site told reporters that accidents happen frequently at the intersection and that not enough is being done to improve safety. “Nobody seems to be doing nothing,” the resident said, emphasizing the need for changes to prevent more lives from being lost.

The incident has shocked the community, prompting discussions about driver safety and the importance of obeying traffic signs. With three young lives lost in one collision, the tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of inattention at intersections.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash and has not released further details about the circumstances or any potential citations. Meanwhile, friends, family, and the wider community are mourning the lives lost in this devastating event.
