 Mary Perez Obituary, Death News – A woman from Bee County was killed in a tragic accident near Pettus, Texas, over the weekend. The incident took place on Saturday, April 5, at around 10:42 p.m., approximately one mile south of Pettus on U.S. Highway 181.

According to a report by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Communications Officer Staff Sergeant Rob Mallory, 42-year-old Mary Perez, a Pettus resident, was walking along the shoulder of the highway. She was heading southbound, but for an undetermined reason, she suddenly ran across the highway and into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The vehicle that struck Perez was a BMW 340I, which was traveling southbound in the inside lane. The driver, a 77-year-old man from Tuleta, Texas, was unable to avoid hitting Perez. After the impact, the BMW immediately stopped on the shoulder of the road.

Sadly, Perez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Despite the driver’s immediate response and efforts, there was no indication of survival for Perez after the collision. The driver of the BMW was not reported to have sustained any injuries in the incident.

Local law enforcement and state troopers from the Beeville Highway Patrol Office have taken up the investigation into the crash. The circumstances leading up to Perez running across the highway remain under investigation, and authorities are working to gather more information.
