The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) stated that the accident occurred when a 2003 GMC Yukon was traveling north on Beulah-Cuttino Road. For reasons that remain under investigation, the SUV veered off the right side of the roadway. The driver then attempted to correct course, guiding the vehicle back onto the road. However, the maneuver caused the SUV to lose stability and overturn.
After flipping, the vehicle left the roadway once again and crashed into a ditch. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Horne had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
