Michael Etchingham Obituary, Death – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has officially identified the man found dead in Sedgwick County Park on June 18 as 31-year-old Michael Etchingham. His identity was confirmed by the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center. Etchingham had been reported missing by a family member to the Wichita Police Department on May 14. Authorities say that he was believed to be homeless and had been staying in a secluded part of the park at the time of his death.
When his body was discovered, it was already in an advanced state of decomposition. Despite this, the Sedgwick County Coroner’s Office was able to determine that the cause of death was suicide. This conclusion was reached after analyzing the physical evidence at the scene as well as findings from the broader investigation carried out by the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office expressed its sympathies to the family and friends of Michael Etchingham during this difficult time.
