Michael Janes Obituary, Death – A man lost his life in a three-vehicle crash on Friday evening, which also left a woman injured, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department. The incident occurred at the intersection of River Road and Frankfort Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on January 24.
LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis stated that the initial investigation suggests a man was driving westbound on River Road when, for reasons that remain unclear, he lost control of his vehicle. He then collided with a commercial vehicle that was turning left onto Frankfort Avenue. This impact caused the man’s car to veer into oncoming traffic, where it struck a car being driven by a woman.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to the University of Louisville (UofL) Hospital with injuries. Officials confirmed that her injuries are not life-threatening, and she is expected to recover. The man was also taken to UofL Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the commercial vehicle involved in the crash was unharmed.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased man as 39-year-old Michael Janes. LMPD’s Traffic Unit is currently leading the investigation into the cause of the crash, but no further details have been released.
