Michael Jones Obituary, Death – A fatal crash on November 15 in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, claimed the life of 46-year-old Michael Jones, a resident of Stuart. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that the collision occurred approximately 15 miles south of Hayworth, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 259 and Pollard Road.
Jones was driving a 2021 Ford F-150 northbound when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and collided head-on with a 2024 Freightliner. The force of the crash left Jones pinned in his vehicle, and he had to be extracted by the Hayworth Fire Department.
Despite efforts to save him, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene by McCurtain County EMS. The driver of the Freightliner, identified as Eakins, was unharmed in the crash.
The report did not specify whether Jones was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and his ability to drive has not been determined. His vehicle, however, was equipped with airbags, which did deploy during the collision. The weather conditions and roadway were clear at the time of the incident.
Trooper Jaydon Pingleton led the investigation into the crash, with the support of four other troopers and the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office.
