Authorities are investigating a pursuit that ended in a crash Tuesday evening in Lancaster, leaving one man deceased and another hospitalized.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies began pursuing a white Ford truck around 4:57 p.m. near Avenue K. Officials said the vehicle was believed to be connected to an ongoing homicide investigation.

California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service that the suspects fled at high speeds, reportedly reaching up to 100 miles per hour. CHP officers later assumed control of the pursuit and deployed spike strips in an effort to bring the vehicle to a stop.

Authorities said the truck struck at least one spike strip and lost a rear tire before ultimately coming to rest after crashing onto railroad tracks near Sierra Highway and Avenue D.

Emergency personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the location. The individual was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office as Miguel Bravo Gonzalez of Palmdale.

The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital. Authorities have not released details about the individual’s condition.

Officials have not disclosed additional information regarding the circumstances that led to the pursuit or the events immediately preceding the crash. The investigation remains active as law enforcement agencies continue to review the incident.
