Edwards-Wallace had recently graduated from Kingstree High School and was preparing to begin his collegiate football career at Newberry, a Division II school.
The tragic news was met with heartfelt condolences from the Newberry College football community. Head coach Todd Knight expressed his sorrow in a public statement, describing Edwards-Wallace as a bright, promising young man. “Our hearts go out to his family,” Knight said. “It’s such a tragedy for a talented young man to be struck down at such a young age. The shooting occurred around 8:16 p.m. on Sunday, prompting a swift response from the Kingstree Police Department. Upon arrival at the apartment complex, officers discovered four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining three were transported to a nearby hospital by emergency medical teams, where a second victim later died as a result of their injuries.
Kingstree Police Chief Kimberly Marlowe confirmed that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has been called in to assist with the investigation. As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been made, and no suspects had been publicly identified.
