Nathaniel Boyd, Whitney Allmond – A Kansas couple, Nathaniel Boyd, 24, and Whitney Allmond, 26, tragically lost their lives in a car crash during a winter storm, with their accident going undiscovered for nearly 18 hours. The couple had been together for about a year, and Boyd had taken on a fatherly role to Allmond’s two young children. Their future together was abruptly cut short by the accident.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. last Sunday when Boyd picked up Allmond from work to take her home. As they traveled southbound on Interstate 235 amid harsh weather conditions, their vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down an embankment, as reported by the Kansas Highway Patrol. Neither Boyd nor Allmond was wearing a seat belt, and both were ejected from the car.

It wasn’t until 6:20 p.m. that someone noticed the crash and called 911. By the time troopers arrived at the scene, both Boyd and Allmond had already succumbed to their injuries. The delay in discovering the crash added to the heartbreak for their families.

Allmond, a dedicated mother of a 2-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son, was known for working tirelessly to support her children, holding two jobs. She was also on the verge of celebrating her 27th birthday. Boyd’s mother described him as one of the most amazing people she had ever met, highlighting his caring nature and his love for Allmond’s children.

The unexpected loss of Boyd has been particularly hard for his family, who are also facing financial difficulties due to the lack of life insurance. Both families have set up GoFundMe pages to help cover funeral expenses, with separate pages created for Boyd and Allmond.

This tragedy underscores the importance of seat belt use and the devastating impact severe weather can have on road safety. It also highlights the emotional and financial toll such sudden losses take on the families left behind.
