Nehemiah McMillon Obituary, Death – A 12-year-old boy, Nehemiah McMillon, was shot and killed in a double shooting that occurred late Saturday night, July 13, in the Winton Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati, according to local authorities.

The Cincinnati Police Department and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office confirmed that McMillon was found inside a vehicle on the 4800 block of Este Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Officers had responded to the scene following reports of gunfire in the area. When they arrived, they discovered the young boy suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, he did not survive the attack.

The incident also involved a second juvenile, who was grazed by a bullet during the shooting. That youth later made their way to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for treatment. The injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.

Darryl Johnson of the Cincinnati Police Department emphasized this point but did not share additional details about what may have led to the gunfire. McMillon’s death highlights a troubling surge in gun violence within the Winton Hills area. According to police, 18 individuals have been shot in that neighborhood so far in 2025, a significant increase from the 11 shootings reported during the same period in the previous year.

Citywide, gun violence among youth is also on the rise. So far this year, 22 individuals under the age of 18 have been shot in Cincinnati. Four of those incidents have resulted in fatalities. By comparison, at this same point last year, 19 juveniles had been shot, with two resulting in death.
