According to a statement from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, the individual who lost his life has been identified as 24-year-old Nickenley Turenne, a resident of Manchester. The situation began late Saturday afternoon, around 4:45 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the South Mammoth Road area after receiving a call about a vehicle that had been reported as suspicious. When police located the car, they found a man—later confirmed to be Turenne—unresponsive at the steering wheel, with a woman asleep in the passenger seat. Officers attempted to speak with him, but when he awoke, police say he suddenly drove away.
A pursuit began as officers attempted to stop the vehicle. During the chase, the car eventually crashed, though officials have not released specifics about the nature or cause of the collision. After the crash, Turenne reportedly exited the vehicle and continued to flee on foot. Officers followed him, and the chase moved into a nearby area close to South Mammoth Road.
