Olga Rios Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the woman who lost her life in a tragic September incident at her home in Marshall County as Olga Rios. Deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Martling Road, near Albertville, where they discovered a woman who had sustained fatal injuries. Investigators later confirmed that the victim was Rios, though official identification had not been released at the time of the initial report.
A close friend and longtime coworker, Lori Diamond, spoke with WAFF 48 News to share more about Rios’s life and to publicly identify her for the first time. Diamond said she and Rios met more than 16 years ago while working together in the healthcare field and developed a strong bond over the years.
“She wasn’t just a coworker — she was like family to me,” Diamond said. “We spent years working side by side, and she always had a smile, no matter how tired she was.”
Diamond described Rios as a hardworking single mother who was deeply devoted to her children — a son in his 20s and twin daughters. She recalled how Rios often took on extra shifts cleaning hospital rooms to ensure she could provide for her family. “She was always focused on her kids. Everything she did was for them,” Diamond added.
Diamond also shared the emotional moment she learned of her friend’s passing. “Her cousin called me and said she was gone. I couldn’t believe it,” she recounted. “I just sat there in shock — it didn’t feel real.”
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that an investigation into Rios’s death remains active. While no official suspect has been named in connection to the case, authorities stated that one person was taken into custody shortly after the incident on unrelated charges. Investigators have not yet confirmed whether that individual is connected to Rios’s death.
Law enforcement officials continue to process evidence and gather information as part of their ongoing efforts to determine what happened. Deputies have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident, citing the need to protect the integrity of the investigation.
The quiet Martling Road community, where Rios lived, was deeply shaken by the news. Neighbors described the area as peaceful and close-knit, expressing disbelief that something so tragic could happen there. Some community members have since placed flowers and candles near the home as a small tribute to Rios’s memory.
Friends and former coworkers have also been sharing messages of sympathy and remembrance online. Many have praised Rios for her strong work ethic, kind heart, and dedication to her family. “She worked harder than anyone I knew,” one colleague wrote. “Even when things were difficult, she stayed positive and kind.”
The Sheriff’s Office has said that they are committed to finding answers and bringing closure to the family. They have encouraged anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators directly.
As of now, officials have not released a timeline for when additional updates might become available, but they have assured the public that the investigation remains a top priority.
In the meantime, those who knew Rios continue to mourn her loss. Diamond said she hopes sharing her friend’s story will remind people of the person behind the headlines — a devoted mother, a loyal friend, and someone who always put others first.
“Olga was one of the kindest people you could ever meet,” Diamond said. “She gave so much of herself to everyone around her. I just want people to remember her for who she was — loving, selfless, and strong.”
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and local authorities continue to investigate the case. More information will be shared with the public once available, officials confirmed.
