According to officials, the event occurred shortly after midnight, around 12:38 a.m. on Saturday. Law enforcement and emergency crews were called to the scene, where they discovered multiple victims. Upon arrival, Coroner LaQuesha Watkins found four individuals who were unresponsive and showing no signs of life. They were pronounced deceased at the scene, and their families have since been notified.

The victims have been identified as 41-year-old Oreshama Johnson, 19-year-old Calvin Plant, 25-year-old Shelbyona Powell, and 18-year-old Kaslyn Johnson. All four were found in close proximity, suggesting they were caught in the same moment of the tragic event.

As the investigation continued through the morning, additional updates were received regarding others who had sustained severe injuries. Around 10:25 a.m. on Saturday, the Washington County Coroner’s Office was informed by the Hinds County Coroner’s Office that another victim, identified as 18-year-old Amos Brantley Jr., had passed away from his injuries. A few hours later, around 11:50 a.m., a similar notice came from the Shelby County Medical Examiner confirming the passing of 34-year-old JaMichael Jones, who also succumbed to his injuries.

In total, six lives were lost as a result of the tragic occurrence. The coroner’s office noted that the bodies have been taken into their care and will be transported to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for autopsies, as part of the official investigative process. Authorities have not yet provided further details about the circumstances leading up to the event or any possible motives, and no information regarding suspects or arrests has been released at this stage.

Local law enforcement agencies, along with the coroner’s office, are continuing their coordinated efforts to piece together what happened in the hours before and after the incident. Investigators are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine how the situation unfolded.
