Oswaldo Garcia Perez Obituary, Death – A 56-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing Broad Rock Boulevard in South Richmond on Sunday night, according to the Richmond Police Department.
The incident occurred in the 2600 block of Broad Rock Boulevard at approximately 9:13 p.m. Officers responding to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle found the man, later identified as Oswaldo Garcia Perez of Richmond, lying injured in the road. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately died from his injuries.
According to police, Perez was crossing the street in the middle of the block—outside of a crosswalk—when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene after the crash and called 911 to report the incident. Police have not indicated that the driver will face any charges at this time.
The Richmond Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an examination to officially determine the cause and manner of Perez’s death.
