Parker Swearingin Obituary, Death – Libertyville High School officials are encouraging parents to have open conversations with their children following the sudden death of a recent graduate, who was found unresponsive in a vehicle earlier this week.
According to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton, the Lake County Coroner’s Office was alerted by Advocate Condell Medical Center’s emergency department in Libertyville after an 18-year-old male was brought in under critical condition. The young man had been discovered unresponsive in a car parked near his residence in the 600 block of Meadow Lane early Tuesday morning.
The individual was identified as Parker Swearingin, an 18-year-old Libertyville resident. Newton stated that Swearingin was pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room at 6:01 a.m.
Following the pronouncement of death, Swearingin’s body was transported to the Lake County Coroner’s Office for further examination. Newton reported that the exact cause of death is currently being withheld, pending the outcome of an autopsy. Both the Coroner’s Office and the Libertyville Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At this time, the Libertyville Police Department has referred all inquiries related to the case to the Coroner’s Office and has not provided additional public comments.
In response to the tragic news, Libertyville High School Principal Dr. Ray Albin sent a message to parents this week expressing the school community’s profound sadness over the loss. In his statement, Dr. Albin confirmed that Swearingin was a recent graduate of Libertyville High School’s Class of 2025.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that a member of our recently graduated class of 2025, Parker Swearingin, has passed away,” Albin wrote. He highlighted that Swearingin had been a valued member of the school community and had planned to attend the University of Illinois in the fall.
“Parker will be deeply missed by the many classmates, teachers, and staff who knew and cared about him,” Albin continued. “Our hearts are with Parker’s family and all those impacted by this unexpected loss.”
Dr. Albin urged parents to take time to check in with their children and to remain attentive to any noticeable changes in their behavior that may reflect their grief or distress. He encouraged parents to foster open dialogue about the death and to allow children to express their emotions and cope with the loss.
Additionally, the principal advised families to seek outside resources if needed, and he reminded the school community that students can access support services. The school’s Summer School District offers a Drop-In Center for those in need of counseling or emotional support. The center can be reached at (847) 327-7000.
The loss of Parker Swearingin has left the Libertyville community in mourning as the investigation continues. More details are expected to emerge once the autopsy results are finalized.
