Peter Sorochinski Obituary, Death – Pennsylvania State Police have identified the man killed in a tragic incident on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia on Tuesday night and are currently seeking the vehicle responsible for his death. The victim, Peter Sorochinski, was from Bucks County and was fatally struck on I-95 South at approximately 8:57 p.m. on December 10.
The crash occurred near mile marker 20.8, close to the on-ramp from Market Street, according to law enforcement officials. The initial series of events unfolded when a vehicle was traveling in the left lane of I-95 South. The vehicle struck an impact attenuator, a protective barrier designed to absorb the force of a collision, on the left side of the roadway.
Following the initial collision, the vehicle veered across two lanes of traffic before slamming into a concrete barrier located on the right side of the highway. After striking the barrier, the vehicle came to a stop in the merging lane, causing a significant disruption in traffic flow. Sorochinski, the driver of the vehicle, exited the car after sustaining what authorities believe to be a head injury.
A Good Samaritan stopped to assist Sorochinski and called 911 to report the crash, offering help. According to the 911 caller, Sorochinski made a phone call after the crash, and once he finished, he unexpectedly stepped into the path of oncoming traffic in the right southbound lane of the highway.
At that moment, Sorochinski was struck by a silver sedan of unknown make and model, which did not stop after hitting him. The vehicle continued driving, leaving the scene of the accident. Sorochinski’s body was thrown into the road after being struck by the sedan, and tragically, two additional vehicles ran over his body as it lay on the roadway. However, the drivers of these two vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Sorochinski sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:08 p.m. The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are actively searching for the driver of the silver sedan who fled the scene.
Authorities have urged anyone with information about the crash to come forward. Pennsylvania State Police are asking the public to contact them at 215-452-5216 with any tips or details that could help in locating the responsible driver.
The incident has raised serious concerns about road safety, particularly the dangers pedestrians face on highways, and the need for drivers to remain vigilant and stop when involved in accidents. As the investigation progresses, police are hoping to gather more information that could lead to the identification of the suspect vehicle and its driver.
This tragedy has left the local community in shock, and authorities are committed to finding justice for Sorochinski and his family. The search for the vehicle involved in his death is ongoing, and police are asking for the public’s help in solving this case.
