Portia Newton Obituary, Death – Police in Prince George’s County have identified a woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in Marlow Heights on Saturday night. The incident occurred on November 16 at approximately 8:50 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck on the 4400 block of Saint Barnabas Road.

Upon arrival, police found the woman in the roadway, having sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. On Monday, authorities released her identity as 37-year-old Portia Newton from Temple Hills.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Newton was struck by a vehicle while walking near Leisure Drive. The vehicle involved was traveling north on Saint Barnabas Road when it hit her, but the driver did not remain at the scene after the collision.

Investigators believe the vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run was a white work van, possibly a GMC Savanna or a Chevy Express. The police have asked the public for assistance in providing any information that could help in identifying the driver or the vehicle involved.
