An Ottawa Lake woman has died following a wrong-way crash Saturday night on US-23, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities reported that the collision occurred around 10 p.m. near Whiteford Township. Investigators said a 60-year-old Ottawa Lake resident was driving south in the northbound left lane when her vehicle collided with another northbound vehicle.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials confirmed.
The second vehicle was driven by an 18-year-old man from Dundee. He and a 17-year-old passenger were transported to a local hospital and were listed in serious condition, according to law enforcement.
Preliminary findings indicate that careless driving may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Deputies noted that the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to gather and review evidence.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has additional information to come forward.
