Salvador Valdiviezo Obituary, Death – An El Paso man who was killed during a police shootout that also injured an officer has been identified as 35-year-old Salvador Valdiviezo, according to police officials.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, June 1, when two police officers responded to a report of domestic violence occurring at a residence located in the 6400 block of Passo Via Street, near Borderland Road, as stated by Sgt. Robert Gomez, a spokesperson for the El Paso police. As the officers approached the residence, Valdiviezo reportedly discharged a handgun at them, prompting both officers to return fire, striking Valdiviezo multiple times, as detailed in a news release by police spokesperson Detective Judy Oviedo on Monday.

A female officer sustained gunshot wounds and is currently hospitalized in stable condition at the University Medical Center of El Paso. Valdiviezo was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Both officers involved in the incident have been with the Police Department for two years, although their names have not been released. Property records from El Paso County indicate that a house on Passo Via Street was purchased by Salvador Valdiviezo and Tiffanie Y. Valdiviezo in 2022.

Court records from El Paso County reveal that an individual named Salvador Valdiviezo has only one criminal conviction, which is a misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated in 2013. It remains uncertain whether this is the same individual.
