The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified Samuel Reed Gray, a 75-year-old resident of Roseburg, Oregon, as the man killed in a fatal vehicle crash in November. The collision occurred on November 5, 2024, at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Hageman Road near Martin Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Preliminary findings by CHP revealed that Gray was driving a 1973 Jeep pulling a trailer eastbound along Hageman Road, east of Martin Avenue. Simultaneously, a semi-truck driver was traveling westbound on the same road, approaching Gray’s location.
For reasons yet to be determined, Gray’s Jeep veered left into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the oncoming semi-truck. The two vehicles collided, and Gray was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
