Shafiur Rahman Obituary, Death – New details have been released regarding a tragic four-vehicle crash on the Kosciuszko Bridge in Maspeth, which claimed the life of a 75-year-old man and left seven others injured on Thursday morning. The fatal victim has been identified as Shafiur Rahman, a 75-year-old man from Euless, Texas. Rahman was a passenger in a 2021 Honda HRV, which was attempting to merge onto the rain-slicked southbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway when the collision occurred. According to the NYPD’s Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad, the crash involved multiple vehicles and triggered a chain reaction.

At around 10:40 a.m., a 46-year-old driver of a 2024 GMC Sierra was traveling westbound on the expressway when he collided with the Honda HRV. The force of the impact caused the Honda to strike a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. This collision in turn pushed the Silverado into a 2018 Kia Sorento, leading to a four-vehicle pile-up.

Following the crash, emergency services from the 108th Precinct and EMS responded to the scene on the Kosciuszko Bridge. Upon arrival, first responders found Rahman inside the flipped Honda HRV, which had rolled onto its side after the initial crash. EMS quickly transported Rahman to Elmhurst Hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The driver of the Honda HRV, a 36-year-old man, sustained only minor injuries and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition. Other passengers in the Honda HRV, including a 6-year-old boy, an 8-year-old girl, a 38-year-old woman, and a 40-year-old man, were also transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where they were all reported to be in stable condition.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, along with a 49-year-old man in the Kia Sorento, were also taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. They were both listed in stable condition after receiving medical care.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into the accident is ongoing. Authorities are continuing to piece together the details of the crash and determine if any further actions are necessary.

The incident highlights the dangers posed by inclement weather, as the rain-soaked conditions on the bridge contributed to the crash. Authorities urge drivers to exercise extra caution and drive responsibly during adverse weather conditions. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is working diligently to gather further details and ensure a thorough investigation is completed.

This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of road conditions and the importance of staying vigilant while driving, especially in rainy or hazardous conditions.
