Shamaree Bell-Brown Obituary, Death – A young woman was fatally stabbed in southeast Charlotte early Monday morning, and police have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) reported that the stabbing occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on March 24 at an apartment complex on Burkland Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 20-year-old Shamaree Bell-Brown suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities believe the attack was the result of a dispute that escalated into violence. Major J.D. Thomas of the CMPD emphasized the importance of conflict resolution and avoiding physical altercations.

“If you get into an argument that gets heated, separate yourselves from each other,” Thomas advised following the incident. “If you can talk to a family member or friend … anything to de-escalate the situation.”

Following an investigation, detectives identified and arrested 20-year-old Maya Jena Jones in connection with Bell-Brown’s death. Jones is now facing charges related to the fatal stabbing.

Her first court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, where she would face a judge regarding the charges. Police have not yet provided further details on what led to the altercation or the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
