Shane Tyson Lawhorn Death – The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office reported that a man died from a gunshot wound following a vehicle chase in Rockbridge County on January 5. The incident began around 10:30 p.m. when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle near Timber Ridge. During the traffic stop, the male driver, later identified as 43-year-old Shane Tyson Lawhorn of Rockbridge County, was instructed to exit the vehicle but allegedly refused to comply. Instead, Lawhorn reportedly fled the scene.

This led to a brief vehicle pursuit, which ultimately ended when Lawhorn’s vehicle crashed. Deputies approached the wrecked vehicle, where they discovered Lawhorn slumped over with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by emergency medical services, Lawhorn was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Virginia State Police to take over the investigation into the incident. As the investigation is still ongoing, further details are expected to be released in the coming days.
