Sharon Oakley Obituary, Death – Another pedestrian has lost her life in Henrico County after being hit by a vehicle. A 70-year-old woman was struck and killed shortly before 5 a.m. on June 6 at the intersection of West Broad Street and John Rolfe Parkway in Short Pump. Henrico Police, who arrived at the scene, discovered the woman, identified as Sharon Oakley of Henrico, exhibiting clear signs of trauma and pronounced her dead.
The Henrico Police Crash Team is currently investigating the incident and had the intersection closed for approximately three hours on Friday morning.
Initial investigations suggest that a driver in a Toyota RAV4 was heading east on West Broad Street when the vehicle collided with Oakley, who police reported was stationary in the middle of the road for an undetermined reason. Subsequently, she was struck by a second vehicle, a bobtail truck (the cab section of a tractor-trailer), which was also traveling east.
Both drivers have stopped and are cooperating with the police, as stated by officials, who noted that speed and alcohol do not seem to have contributed to the crash, although Oakley’s dark clothing may have played a role. Anyone with information regarding the incident that could assist in the investigation is urged to contact Henrico County Police at (804) 501-5000 or Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or via p3tips.com. Both methods for contacting Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
