Silvio Sobrinho Obituary, Death – A man was shot and killed in a late-night crash involving two tractor-trailers on I-295 South on January 31, according to Virginia State Police (VSP). The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Pocahontas Parkway.

State police reported that the man, 58-year-old Silvio Sobrinho, was driving a tractor-trailer in the left lane when another truck, traveling in the center lane, made contact with his vehicle. This collision caused Sobrinho’s truck to veer off the road, hit a metal guardrail, and come to a stop.

Following the crash, the driver of the second tractor-trailer pulled alongside Sobrinho’s truck and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, striking and killing him. The shooter then fled the scene. Police later discovered several bullet holes on the passenger side of Sobrinho’s truck.

A witness, who was driving a northbound tractor-trailer, observed the crash and approached the scene, finding Sobrinho slumped over the steering wheel. A responding trooper performed CPR, but emergency personnel later pronounced Sobrinho dead at the scene.

State police have described the truck involved in the incident as white with green lettering. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Those with details are asked to contact the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 804-750-8758 or by email at bci.81@vsp.virginia.gov.
