Tamir Johnson Obituary, Death – A man was killed in a suspected road rage incident in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and investigators believe he may have been the aggressor in the confrontation. Authorities have identified the deceased as 35-year-old Tamir Johnson of Whitehall Township.
The incident unfolded early Sunday morning on the 400 block of West Hamilton Street. According to investigators, the situation began when Johnson, driving an Audi, reportedly passed and confronted the driver of a Toyota Prius.
Police say Johnson forced the Prius off the road and to the curb. He then exited his vehicle, armed with a baseball bat, and approached the Prius. Johnson is alleged to have struck the driver’s side door of the Prius with the bat.
In response to the perceived threat, the Prius driver reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot, striking Johnson in the torso. After the shooting, the Prius driver drove about two blocks away, pulled over, and called police to report the incident.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after, but Johnson was pronounced dead not long after being shot.
Investigators noted that the Prius driver possesses a valid license to carry a firearm. As of Monday night, the individual had not been publicly identified, and no criminal charges had been filed in connection with the shooting.
Authorities are still reviewing the circumstances, but preliminary findings suggest that Johnson initiated the confrontation and posed a threat with a weapon. The case remains under investigation, and further details may be released as more information becomes available.
