Tracy Henman Obituary, Death – Authorities in Lincoln have identified the woman who was found deceased inside her northeast Lincoln residence on Thursday morning as 43-year-old Tracy Henman, according to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD). Assistant Chief Jason Stille provided an update on the investigation Friday, sharing new details about the case that remains under active review.
According to police, the discovery was made after Henman’s relatives contacted emergency services around 8 a.m. on Thursday. Family members, who had not seen or heard from her for several days, became concerned and requested a welfare check at her home located in a multiplex on Deweese Drive, just north of 56th and Holdrege streets.
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and entered the home, where they found both Henman and a man inside. Authorities say Henman appeared to have sustained visible injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man, identified as a 40-year-old Lincoln resident known to Henman, was immediately taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of facial and neck injuries and remains under medical care.
Assistant Chief Stille noted that investigators believe there is no ongoing threat to the public, emphasizing that the situation appears to be isolated. He explained that the suspect’s name will not be released until he is formally booked into the Lancaster County Jail, in accordance with department policy.
“Charges are currently pending,” Stille said. “They may be adjusted depending on the findings from the autopsy and other aspects of the ongoing investigation.”
An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday, which will help determine the official cause and manner of death, as well as clarify the approximate time of the incident.
The LPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing to gather evidence, conduct interviews, and review materials connected to both the victim and the suspect. Stille mentioned that investigators are still working to confirm the exact nature of the relationship between Henman and the suspect.
Residents in the neighborhood reported that police activity was extensive in the area on Thursday morning, with multiple patrol cars and emergency responders present for several hours as authorities secured the location and collected evidence.
