The New Orleans Coroner’s Office has identified the 15-year-old who died following a shooting in the city’s 7th Ward as Walter Dalton.

According to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire at the intersection of North Miro and New Orleans streets at approximately 5:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

When officers arrived, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

In an update, the Orleans Parish Coroner confirmed that Dalton later died from his injuries on Sunday. His death has been officially ruled a homicide.
