William Palomares Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified a pedestrian who tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway near Boyle Heights. The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, was reported to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at approximately 9:58 p.m.

CHP officers responded to the scene near Lorena Street and discovered that the pedestrian had been hit while in one of the freeway’s middle lanes. Officer Sean Lough, speaking on behalf of the CHP, confirmed the details to City News Service.

The victim was identified as 40-year-old William Palomares, who was experiencing homelessness. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, Palomares succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

Following the accident, the eastbound lanes of the freeway in the affected area were temporarily closed to allow authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. The circumstances leading to the collision, including why Palomares was in the middle lanes of the freeway, remain under investigation by the CHP.
