A 68-year-old man lost his life in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Saturday evening in Hunt County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities said troopers were dispatched around 6:40 p.m. to the scene along State Highway 66 near County Road 2112 following reports of a crash involving a motorcycle.
Preliminary findings indicate that the rider was traveling southbound on the highway when he lost control of the motorcycle. Investigators said the bike went down and slid off the roadway into a nearby ditch.
The rider was identified as 68-year-old George Donald Bee of Fate, Texas. Emergency responders confirmed that he died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Officials noted that the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
The circumstances leading to the loss of control remain under investigation. Authorities have not indicated whether weather, road conditions, or other factors may have contributed to the crash.
