Kavari Drisdell Obituary, Death – Authoritie have identified the young boy who died after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Decatur on June 15. Coroner Michael D. Burkham confirmed that the victim was 12-year-old Kavari Drisdell, a resident of Decatur.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Van Dyke Street and King Street. According to the preliminary investigation, Drisdell had been riding his bicycle eastbound across North Van Dyke Street when he was hit by a 2011 Dodge Challenger.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Drisdell to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead due to the injuries he sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Dodge Challenger, identified only as a 45-year-old man from Decatur, was not injured in the collision. Following the incident, authorities arrested the driver on a charge of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Resulting in Death.
The case is still under investigation as officials work to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding the crash. The tragic death of the young cyclist has deeply affected the community, and authorities have extended their condolences to the boy’s family.
