Authorities have identified the man who lost his life following a shooting at a Culver City shopping center late last week. Officials say the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine what led to the incident.
According to the Culver City Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 7:25 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of gunfire in the north parking area of Westfield Culver City Mall, located along Sepulveda Boulevard. The response followed multiple calls from members of the public reporting a disturbance in the area.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot-related injuries. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, authorities confirmed that the man later passed away at the hospital.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later identified the deceased as 25-year-old Angel Torres of Los Angeles. Officials have not released further personal details out of respect for the family and in accordance with standard procedures.
Police also confirmed that a second adult male was injured during the same incident. That individual was later located at a hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. Authorities said the second victim is expected to recover. No additional information about his identity has been released.
