A serious crash in St. Francois County on Thursday evening has left one person dead and two children with injuries, according to authorities.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 7:51 p.m. on April 30, 2026, at the intersection of Route OO and Williams Drive. Investigators say a Chevrolet Equinox traveling southbound attempted to turn left onto Williams Drive, entering the path of an oncoming Kawasaki motorcycle traveling northbound.
The motorcycle collided with the front side of the SUV, and the rider—a 20-year-old man from Farmington—was thrown from the vehicle during the impact. Despite wearing a helmet, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner later that evening.
The driver of the SUV, a 35-year-old man also from Farmington, was not reported to have serious injuries. Officials noted that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, though further details about his condition were not immediately available.
Two children who were passengers in the SUV—a 7-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl—sustained minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts and were transported to a nearby medical facility by private vehicle for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that both vehicles involved in the collision sustained significant damage and were removed from the scene. Additional personnel assisted with traffic management and the ongoing investigation.
The incident has drawn attention to the importance of road safety, particularly at intersections where visibility and timing are critical. Officials continue to review the circumstances leading up to the crash as part of their investigation.
The community is left reflecting on the tragic loss and the need for continued awareness and caution on the roads.
