Authorities have identified a 70-year-old man who passed away after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday in Woodbridge, Virginia. According to the Prince William County Police Department, the incident occurred along Richmond Highway when a pedestrian was crossing the roadway.

Police said the man, identified as Julio Carlos Cruz Merino, was attempting to cross Richmond Highway when he was struck by a Toyota Camry traveling southbound. Investigators reported that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Cruz Merino to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries, authorities confirmed.

The driver of the Camry, identified by police as a 19-year-old man, remained at the scene following the crash and cooperated with investigators. Officials have not announced any charges in connection with the incident.
