Authorities have confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect in connection with a violent incident that occurred in early March in downtown Sacramento. According to the Sacramento Police Department, the suspect, Humberto Palacios, was taken into custody on homicide-related charges following an extensive investigation led by homicide detectives.
Officers responded to reports of an incident around 9:45 p.m. on March 2 in the 400 block of K Street. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals who had sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Sadly, one of the victims, later identified as 21-year-old Dustin DeWitt of Stockton, did not survive.
Law enforcement officials stated that the arrest was made possible through a coordinated effort involving several specialized units, including teams focused on violent crime reduction and tactical response. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances but confirmed that the investigation remains active.
Meanwhile, members of the community have shown support for the victim’s family, including the creation of an online fundraiser to assist during this difficult time.
