Series of Road Incidents Across San Diego County Leaves Five Lives Lost.

Authorities in San Diego County have released the identities of five men who died in separate traffic-related incidents over recent weeks, highlighting a string of tragedies on local roads that remain under investigation.

The most recent case occurred early Wednesday morning in Borrego Springs. Officials say 24-year-old Fregoso Lopez was jogging along a dimly lit stretch of Di Giorgio Road when he was struck by a northbound pickup truck shortly after 5:30 a.m. He died at the scene.

Days earlier, 47-year-old Jose de Jesus Mendoza Velazquez was involved in a crash along southbound Interstate 805 near State Route 54 in National City. According to reports, his sedan veered out of its lane and collided with an SUV parked on the shoulder. He was taken to a nearby hospital but died shortly after arrival.

On April 21, 78-year-old Olimpio Rodriguez Cervantes lost his life while riding a bicycle near Palomar College in San Marcos. Authorities say he was struck by a vehicle around midday and died at the scene.

Another incident occurred on April 19 in the Miramar area, where a 33-year-old man identified as Kyle Ashauer was driving an SUV that veered off a roadway connector and struck a tree. He was transported for medical care but died days later due to his injuries.

In a separate earlier crash on March 17, 31-year-old Robert Adams Jr. was riding a motorcycle on Imperial Avenue when he lost control and collided with an SUV near State Route 15. He received extensive medical treatment but passed away weeks later.

Officials continue to review each case to determine contributing factors. No further details have been released as investigations remain ongoing.
